NGO Calls for Independent Commission to Protect Minority Rights in Pakistan

Islamabad: The Center for Social Justice, a non-governmental organization advocating for minority rights, has urged the federal government of Pakistan to establish an independent and effective commission to safeguard the rights of religious minorities in the country.

During a seminar organized by the Center for Social Justice in Islamabad, participants emphasized that the proposed commission should have parliamentary backing and be supported through legislative measures.

The members of the Center for Social Justice stressed that the minority rights commission must operate independently and be free from the influence of the Council of Islamic Ideology and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Speakers at the conference pointed out that Pakistan has committed to providing equal employment opportunities, respecting the religious beliefs of minorities, and ensuring equal citizenship rights for all. They highlighted the need to fulfill these promises to uphold the rights of religious minorities in the country.
